How the course runs

Three stages, one thread of maths running through all of them.

Every student moves through the same path, at a pace that suits the group. Nobody skips the foundations — even confident coders start at stage one.

Scratch, and the maths underneath it

Everyone starts here, whatever coding they've done before. Scratch is where loops, variables and logic stop being abstract — and it's where we lay the maths foundations that GCSE builds on: BIDMAS, coordinates, sequences, ratios, negative numbers.

Python, with harder maths built in

Once the basics are solid, we move to real code. Python projects get tied to trickier maths — algebra, inequalities, probability, functions — so students see exactly where the subject gets used, not just why it's on the syllabus.

Final project, and how AI actually works

Students build a complete project pulling together functions, lists and conditionals, alongside a look at the legal, ethical and environmental side of computing and where AI fits in — grounded in the maths and code they've just learned, not treated as magic.

Every session runs the same shape: 30 minutes of maths, 30 minutes of computer science, then 60 minutes of hands-on coding — always in that order, so the ideas from the first hour show up in what students build.

In person

Small groups of 6–8 students. Best for students who focus better away from a screen at home, and who want to build alongside others in the room.

02 · Virtual

Virtual

Groups of up to 10 students, live online. Same curriculum, same pace — just dial in from home with a laptop.

£20 per student, per 2-hour session — in person and virtual are priced the same. Booked as a 10-week block.

I'm Devorshi — currently in Year 12, studying Maths, Economics and Computer Science, and I started Quotient Academy because I remember exactly how disconnected school maths and school coding used to feel, when really they're the same subject wearing two different outfits.

For my Computer Science coursework, I'm building a Python-based trading strategy from scratch — writing the logic, backtesting it against real historical data, and debugging it when it inevitably breaks. That's the same loop I want every student here to get comfortable with: work out the maths, turn it into code, run it, fix it, understand it properly.

I've taught before this too — running climate change workshops for secondary school students as a Climate Change Ambassador with GenEarth, and presenting a website my team built to an audience of 60 people during a software development placement at Kainos. I know how to explain something technical to a room of teenagers without losing them.

Outside of this, I play competitive chess (rated in the top 5% nationally) and violin, and I'm working toward a career in quantitative finance — which is really just maths, code and pattern-spotting at a bigger scale. Quotient Academy is where I get to pass that on early.

Before you book

Does my child need their own laptop?

Bring a laptop or Chromebook if you have one — Python and AI sessions need it. Scratch sessions can run on a tablet if that's easier early on. Exact requirements are confirmed before the first session.

What if my child has never coded before?

That's exactly who stage one is built for. Every student starts with Scratch and the maths foundations, regardless of prior experience.

Is this exam-focused or project-based?

Both. Maths content links directly to what's tested at GCSE, but it's taught through projects and code rather than worksheets alone.

What happens in each session?

Every 2-hour session follows the same structure: 30 minutes of maths, 30 minutes of computer science theory, then 60 minutes of hands-on coding that puts both into practice.

What's the cancellation policy?
